This was our yearly bicycle ride on the Root River Trail in MN. We drove to Preston and arrived at the trail about 9:30am. The Group started south towards Harmony. The trail unrolled across a medow with a babbling brook that weaved back and forth. At 5.5 miles out we turned around and headed back to Preston. After a short stop at the trail head we continued on towards Lanesboro. It was a perfect day for a bicycle ride. The trail runs along the Root River through the Harmony Valley. This trail is a picture perfect bicycler's dream. We arrived at Laneboro, parked the bicycles at the trail head and went to the 'Peddle Pusher's Cafe' for lunch. after lunch we headed back to Preston. We peddled a total of 32 miles on Saturday. That night we eat dinner in Lanesboro as a group. Great Food! Great Times! Great People! What a way to finish the day.
On Sunday we drove to Lanesboro and headed east towards Whalan. We arrived at "The World's Best Pie's" in Whalan at 10:00am. After enjoying some good tasting pie we peddled on towards Peterson. The Valley was awesome. The trees had just started turning...

LAC Bicycle Ride: July 5th, 2009
July 28, 2009
We had 8 LAC members that met at La Port for the bicycle ride, Sunday, July 5th, 2009. The weather was ... "Better than Great" on the trail today. We met some nice people on the trail. We rode north from LA Port to the Cedar River (which the brige is closed) and back. They have done a very good job of replacing the trail where it was washed out. This is a perfect summer for bicycling.
